Terms of service
The rules for using the Shiri app and the Harare pilot delivery service.
1. Who provides the service
The app and the pilot delivery service are provided by Shiri (“Shiri”, “we”), Harare, Zimbabwe. Contact: hello@shiri.delivery. By creating an account or placing an order you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.
2. Who can use Shiri
- You must be 18 or older, have a Zimbabwean mobile number, and give accurate details.
- Your account lives on your phone during the pilot. Keep your password private, sign out on shared devices, and tell us if you think someone else has used it.
- One account per person; do not use Shiri on behalf of someone who is not allowed to.
3. The pilot service
- Deliveries fly from the pilot hubs at Greenfields Retail Centre and Sam Levy’s Village to landing zones inside the pilot delivery area shown in the app.
- Each drone carries up to about 2.5 kg in a 30 × 25 × 20 cm box. Larger baskets are split across drones (each with its own delivery fee, shown before you confirm) and items that cannot fly are marked collection-only.
- We may pause, delay, re-route or cancel a flight at any time for weather, airspace restrictions, aircraft availability, an unsafe landing zone or any other safety reason. The order timeline in the app will tell you; if we cannot deliver inside the quoted window you may cancel for a full refund.
- Products are sold by the merchants at the hubs. Merchants set prices, descriptions and availability; we pass your order to them and deliver it. Substitutions are only made if you agreed to them at checkout.
4. Your landing zone
You choose where the drone lowers your package. You are responsible for choosing a place you are allowed to use and for keeping it safe:
- A flat, open spot at least 5 m across, away from trees, power lines, walls and roads — a garden, driveway, flat walled roof or open ground. Balconies are not accepted.
- Keep people, children, pets and vehicles clear from the moment the app says Arriving until it says the package is on the ground and the aircraft has climbed away. Never touch the aircraft or its tether.
- Follow the in-app hand-off instructions. We may refuse or return a delivery if the landing zone is obstructed, occupied or unsafe on arrival; the delivery fee may then be charged again for a second attempt.
- Interfering with, throwing objects at or attempting to capture an aircraft is dangerous and illegal under Zimbabwe’s civil aviation regulations.
5. Age-restricted items
Alcohol, tobacco and nicotine products may only be ordered and received by someone aged 18 or older. You confirm this in the app before adding such items, and the person receiving the delivery may be asked to show identification. If no eligible adult is present, the item is returned to the hub and refunded less the delivery fee.
6. Prices and payment
- Prices are shown in United States dollars and include VAT where applicable. The delivery fee is shown before you confirm; there are no hidden fees.
- During the pilot you can pay by card (Visa, Mastercard, ZimSwitch), EcoCash or cash on delivery. Payments in the app are simulated: the app does not charge your card or wallet. Card and EcoCash payments are confirmed with you by the pilot team before dispatch, and cash is paid to the team at hand-off. We never ask for your CVV.
- If a payment cannot be confirmed, the order is not dispatched.
7. Problems, refunds and cancellations
- You can cancel free of charge until the order is marked Preparing. After that, merchants may have started your order and only the delivery fee is refundable, unless we cancel.
- Tell us within 24 hours of delivery about damaged, missing or wrong items through the support channels. We refund the affected items and the delivery fee to your original payment method within five working days. Perishable food cannot be returned, but we still refund it if it arrives damaged.
- If we cancel for weather or safety, you receive a full refund.
8. Using the app responsibly
Do not order prohibited or dangerous goods (weapons, flammables, illegal items), misuse promotions, attempt to access other people’s accounts, reverse-engineer the app or interfere with our operations. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or endanger people or aircraft.
9. Our responsibility to you
We take care to deliver safely and on time, but the pilot is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by Zimbabwean law, our liability for any order is limited to the value of that order including its delivery fee, and we are not liable for indirect losses such as missed appointments or lost profit. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
10. The app and our content
We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the Shiri app on your Android device. The Shiri name, logo and app design are ours; merchant names, logos and product images belong to the merchants. Open-source components are acknowledged in the app under Settings → Design credits.
11. Changes and ending the pilot
We may update these terms or end the pilot at any time. Material changes are announced in the app before they take effect; continuing to use Shiri after that means you accept them. You can stop using Shiri and delete your account at any time (how).
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Zimbabwe. Please contact us first — most problems are solved quickly by the pilot team. Otherwise, disputes are subject to the courts of Harare.
